About Us

The Office of Retirement Services (ORS) administers retirement programs for Michigan state and public school employees, state police, judges, and Michigan National Guard. ORS is a division of the State of Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget.

With over 530,000 customers and $47 billion in assets, we are the 14th largest state pension system in the U.S., and the 44th largest pension system in the world!

To fund the retirement system, most ORS members and their employers contribute to the plan. The majority of the funding comes from investment earnings, though more than 66% of the total fund over the last 15 years.

These plans help stabilize our economy and keep many older Michiganders off public assistance programs. The money spent by ORS retirees builds as it cycles through Michigan; for every $1 contributed, over $6.49 in total economic output is created!

ORS has partnered with Voya Financial® to offer the Savings Component of the Pension Plus retirement plan . Voya® provides online access to account information and a variety of tools and resources to help you reach your retirement goals.
